Al Sobkowich
Born and raised in Hubbard, Saskatchewan, he started playing the violin at an early age and played for various functions in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
In the early 1960’s hearing and seeing Tommy Buick as a guest on a local Regina TB program I was immediately inspired by his unique style and became one of his many fans.
Upon moving to Winnipeg in the early 1970’s I began following Tommy to hear him perform at variou8s clubs and bars. I eventually got to know Tommy on a personal basis and have filled in for him a few times over the years.
Alone with Steve Myk we have put together some of Tommy’s most played polkas and waltz's and have dedicated this recording “Dva Skripakih” in tribute to Tommy Buick.
