We invite you to experience a special recording with two of the finest fiddlers in the Ukrainian music community. Steve Myk and Al Sobkowich have combined their talents to pay tribute to the great “Tommy Buick”. Al Sobkowich was born and raised at Hubbard,
Saskatchewan. Al started playing the violin at an early age and
performed at various functions in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. In the
early '60s after hearing and seeing Tommy Buick as a guest on a local
Regina TV program Al became one of Buick's many fans. Steve
Myk began violin lessons at age fourteen and played his first wedding
at the age of fifteen. Steve was influenced by musicians such as King
Gannam, Don Messer, and Andy Desjarlis. Every week Steve played along
while listening to CKDM radio in Dauphin. |
