Honour Songs |

As the name suggests, Honour songs re requested at the pow wow / celebration to honour someone. Perhaps a family would request an honour songs for a son returned from the war, or in the memory of a deceased relative. Honour songs can be made fro almost any occasion. In some traditions, people with an aboriginal name have their own songs, and those songs are sung if the person is to be honored. In other instances there are “generic “ honour songs for people with out their own.
