This is a downloadable pdf ebook by Karl May.

"In this early 1875 travelogue, Karl May created the outline of his
greatest hero, who was to become the famous Apache Chief Winnetou. One
can find in this story about Inn-nu-woh some of the noble characteristics
that were to become the hallmark of Winnetou. However, Inn-nu-woh,
although noble, is in many ways still the savage, a far cry from the almost
saintly Winnetou who died in Winnetou III.
This story appeared in ‘Deutsches Familienblatt’ (German Family
Newspaper) in 1875 titled ‘Aus der Mappe eines Vielgereisten’ (From the
Portfolio of a Much Traveled).
As you read the following story, called ‘Winnetou’, notice the way it
differs from Inn-nu-woh, and you will gain a glimpse of the evolution of
Karl May’s stories and characters. "
